Summertime Lemonade
12 servings
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 1/2 cup boiling water
- 1 Tablespoon freshly grated lemon zest *
- 1 1/2 cups (about 6-10 lemons) of
freshly squeezed lemon juice
Dissolve the sugar in the boiling water. Add lemon zest and lemon juice and stir well. Store in a covered container and refrigerate until ready to use.
Pour 1/4 to 1/3 cup of lemonade syrup over 3/4 cup cold water. Add ice cubes and a lemon slice.
* Lemon Zest: Lightly grate just the yellow from the lemon making sure you don't go down too far. You do not want to grate the white beneath the yellow.
Note: To make decorative lemon ice cubes, place a twist of lemon inside each ice cube before freezing
Strawberry Lemonade: Defrost 1 10-oz package of Sliced strawberries. After mixing your lemonade, add a Tablespoon of strawberries to each glass and stir.
