Lamb Patties with Cilantro Mint Sauce
2 servings
- 3/4 pound ground lamb, (not too lean)
- 3 Tablespoons chopped scallions
- a pinch of ground cinnamon
- 1/8 teaspoon ground cumin
- FOR THE SAUCE:
- 1/2 cup plain nonfat yogurt
- 1 Tablespoon chopped fresh cilantro
- 1 Tablespoon chopped fresh mint leaves
- 1/2 teaspoon minced garlic
In a bowl combine the lamb, scallion, cinnamon and cumin, and salt and pepper to taste, knead the mixture with your hands until it is combined well, and chill it, covered for 15 minutes. Form the lamb mixture into 4 patties. On the lightly oiled rack of a broiler pan broil the patties under the broiler for 5 minutes on each side.
Make the sauce while lamb is broiling. In a bowl whisk together the yogurt, coriander (or cilantro), mint, garlic and salt and pepper.
Divide the patties between 2 plates lined with a romaine leaf and serve them with the yogurt sauce and pita bread
